Frequently Asked Questions

What does wilks.digital do?
Hi! I’m Mark Wilks from wilks.digital
I’m a freelance Creative Director and I help businesses, charities, and churches communicate with clarity and creativity.I specialise in Videography, Graphic Design, Photography, Squarespace Websites and Consultancy for Churches— but more than that, I help organisations tell their story in a way that connects with people online and in person.
-
Who do you work with?
I work with a range of clients:
Businesses that want professional content to strengthen their brand and attract new customers.Charities that need affordable, impactful design and media to raise awareness and support their cause.
Churches looking to shape their digital presence as an extension of their ministry.
-
What makes wilks.digital different to other creative agencies?
Many agencies will make you “stuff,” but I focus on strategy first. I won’t just design a logo or film a video — I’ll help you work out what you actually need, why it matters, and how it fits into your wider goals.
For churches especially, this often means moving from “we just need a Facebook page” to “we have a digital strategy that grows our community.”
-
What’s the difference between hiring a freelance Creative Director and using a big agency?
With me, you get direct creative expertise without the agency overheads. I’m hands-on, so you won’t be passed from account manager to designer to videographer.
Everything stays consistent, strategic, and personal. For smaller organisations, that means you get agency-quality work at a more flexible, affordable level.
-
Can you help if I don't know what I need?
Yes. A lot of clients — particularly churches — come to me unsure of where to start. Through consultancy and creative direction, I’ll help you identify your needs, set clear goals, and build the right digital tools and content to get there.
-
Why is videography important for small businesses and charities?
Video is one of the most powerful ways to connect with people online. For small businesses, a short promotional film can showcase products, services, and customer stories far more effectively than text alone.
For charities, video can capture emotion, build trust, and inspire donations or volunteers.
I create video content that’s tailored to your audience and easy to share across websites, social media, and events.
-
Is Squarespace a good website platform for churches?
Yes. Squarespace is user-friendly and flexible, which means churches don’t need a full-time web developer to keep things up to date. I design Squarespace websites for churches that go beyond acting as a noticeboard — they help newcomers find you, communicate your values, and extend your ministry online. And because it’s easy to edit, your team can post new sermons, events, or blog updates without hassle.
-
How can photography help my organisation stand out?
Professional photography builds trust. Stock images are fine in some cases, but real photos of your team, your events, and your community make your website and marketing feel authentic. Whether it’s staff headshots, product photography, or capturing church life, strong imagery instantly makes your organisation look more professional and relatable.
-
Can wilks.digital help with rebranding or updating our logo?
Yes. If your branding feels dated or inconsistent, I can help you refresh your logo, colour palette, and design style so it works across print, video, and digital platforms.
A rebrand doesn’t always mean starting from scratch — sometimes a subtle update is all you need to feel current and confident again.
-
How can a church improve its digital presence without a big budget?
Start with clarity and consistency. A clean, easy-to-navigate website and some well-designed graphics for your weekly communications can go a long way. From there, simple video storytelling — testimonies, service highlights, event promos — can extend your reach.
I often help churches prioritise the biggest impact for the smallest spend, so you don’t waste time or money on tools you won’t use.
-
Do you only build Squarespace websites?
Squarespace is my speciality because it’s powerful, flexible, and easy for clients to update without technical stress. That said, I always recommend the platform that’s the best fit for your organisation — if Squarespace isn’t right for you, I’ll tell you.
-
Do you offer training so our team can manage the website or social media ourselves?
Absolutely. I don’t just hand over a website and leave you guessing. I can provide training sessions, video walkthroughs, or written guides so your team feels confident updating content.
The goal is always to leave you empowered, not dependent.
-
How much does it cost to work with wilks.digital?
Every project is different, and costs depend on the scope. A simple one-page website is very different to a full rebrand with ongoing video content. I’ll always give you a clear, upfront proposal so you know exactly what’s included.
-
How long does it take to complete a project?
Timelines vary depending on the project. A logo refresh might take a couple of weeks, while a full website with custom photography could take a few months. I’ll always give you a clear timeframe up front so you know what to expect, and I stick to deadlines.
-
Where are you based, and do you work with clients outside your area?
I’m based in Ormskirk, Lancashire (UK) but work with clients across the UK and beyond. Thanks to digital tools, location is rarely a barrier — though I do offer in-person filming and photography where travel is practical.
-
Can wilks.digital work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. While I’m based in Ormskirk, UK, much of my work can be done remotely. I’ve worked with clients across the UK and internationally, especially for websites, design, and digital consultancy.
For videography and photography, I can travel where practical, or work with you to capture content locally and then edit it professionally.
-
What's the first step if I want to work with wilks.digital?
It’s simple: just reach out via the contact page on wilks.digital. Tell me a little about your project, and I’ll suggest the next steps — whether that’s a discovery call, a proposal, or some quick advice to point you in the right direction.
